Paola D'Avenia is a New York City based makeup artist

Art and Beauty have always been the guiding lights of her professional and personal path. She was born and raised in a big family in the heart of vibrant and energetic Sicily (Italy). After graduating in History of Art in University in Italy, she had the opportunity to work in museums and art galleries in Rome, Palermo and New York, where she spent two amazing years and fell in love with this city.

 

Make-up has been her passion since she was a teenager. In fact, She used to spend her free time watching makeup tutorials, reading books about beauty, skincare and cosmetics and wandering around makeup stores as often as she could. The more time passed, the more her passion for make-up grew in her, keeping her awake at night and asking for a bigger commitment than just a hobby would require.

 

So she decided to uproot her life and move to London where she graduated as a professional make-up artist at AOFM, Academy of Freelance Makeup, where she learnt from great make-up and hairstyle professionals and figured out whether or not this incredible passion she felt for the industry would remain just a dream or  become reality.

 

After graduating at AOFM she moved to Milan, and started working as a freelance make-up artist mostly in the fashion industry and also assisting talented and renowned make up artist like Daniele Lorusso (Mr Daniel Makeup). She continued to refine her skills in many different and challenging areas, such as: fashion week runway shows, photoshoots, commercial campaigns, editorials, videos and e-commerce. She worked for many fashion houses and brands such as Fendi, Luisa Beccaria, Philipp Plein, Iceberg, La Perla Lingerie, Ermanno Scervino, Daks London and talented fashion designers as Tiziano Guardini, Daizy Shely, Federico Curradi, Piccione.Piccione, San Andres Milano, Atsushi Nakashima and many more.

From 2018 to 2019 Paola D'Avenia was Beauty Editor at Switch Magazine, an italian Fashion Publication, curating monthly beauty products selection and editing beauty contents.

​

After 3 years in Milan on june 2019 she moved permanently to New York, where she lives in the vibrant neighborhood of Brooklyn.

 

Her inspiration comes from art, music videos, photography, traveling and, above all: nature and its creativity. She loves being continuously up to date on current trends in cosmetics, skincare and make-up and collaborating with inspiring and creative minds that allow her to grow as a professional and a human being.

She specializes in beauty, editorial and runway make-up but always remain curious to explore new paths.
